Mackenzie

Mackenzie came into my life on a Sunday morning in February 2002… a friend needed to find a home for their eight month old Cocker Spaniel puppy and when the kennel door was opened Mackenzie ran past eight other people to where I was standing… laid down, put her chin on my shoe and looked up at me… and we have been together ever since…

Mackenzie loved car rides… she was my co-pilot on three cross country road trips and was a great travel companion… when at home she loved to sit, side by side, on the patio in her very own chair, of course, and watch the birds and squirrels playing in the yard… unusual as it may be, she was fascinated by, and could spend hours watching figure skating on television…

Mackenzie was very much a diva when it came to her beautiful, long, wavy ears… on grooming days she was always a little hesitant until sure they had only barely tipped her ears… then immediately after coming home, she loved going for long walks through the neighborhood, stopping as we passed any and every friend, to show off her flowing trademarks…

Mackenzie was about nine when she met her new friend and forever playmate – my granddaughter Sedona… at little more than a year old, all of Sedonas cheerios and fishy cracker snacks were within perfect reach for puppy dog treats… and forever after the “wet nose and wiggly butt” and the toddler became inseparable whenever they had the opportunity…

Mackenzie was my best friend… my constant companion… my laughter in fun times… my solace in sad times… my protector when she felt it might be necessary… the best snuggler on cold winter evenings… and after a fresh new snowfall, how she loved our morning walks with just the two of us leaving our fresh footprints in a beautiful white wonderland…

Mackenzie gave me her love and companionship for sixteen wonderful years… but her time to leave came on a Friday evening in February 2018… I know she is still near by when I hear her collar tags rattle as she shakes those beautiful ears and as I feel her paw on my knee when she is ready to go for a walk… Mackenzie my sweet girl, you will be part of my heart and soul forever!

Messages From Friends and Family

Mackenzie was a great friend and a good companion to see twice a week. When ever I saw her she would always follow me where ever I went.I was sad to see her go,but I am happy she isn't in any pain.Remember, nobody is ever really gone.
